THE LECTURE SERIES : At Beverley and York

  • Lecture Series with VISTA 2007/08:

    Continuing the lecture series at the venues of The Memorial Hall, Beverley and The Bar Convent York.

    Each lecturer has chosen from this theme conflict between individuals and/or styles. This has sparked a creative dynamism whose energy has driven a new direction in the arts. The sequence is as follows subject to availability:

    • Oct 9th, One to be Revealed. Always exciting: Rose and Robin Horspool. Please note due to room problems October York lecture only will be now on the 16th October 2pm
    • Nov 13th, Florence versus Siena: a Fruitful Conflict. Tensions and Rivalry: Valerie Thornhill
    • Dec 11th, The Duchess checks the Knight. Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough and Vanbrugh: John Wilton-Ely
    • Jan 8th, Power, Patronage and Politics in Europe. Cardinal Wolsey and Henry V111: Valerie Thornhill
    • Feb 12th, Richard Payne Knight and the Loudons. Gothic versus Gardenesque styles: Rose Horspool
    • Mar 11th, Kedleston Hall and the Birth of the Adam Style. Creative genius and tension: John Wilton-Ely.
    • Apr 9th, Sir Tatton 11 and Lady Sykes. Miser and spendthrift: Gerardine Mulcahy
  • Day: On a Tuesday each month
  • Times: At Beverley 10-12 am
    At York 2-4pm
  • Cost: £30.00 for the series or £4.00 at the door on the day per lecture.
