LUCCA: AN ITALIAN GEM

At last dates can be confirmed as we wanted to include the 2008 Puccini Festival, programme just revealed.

Tutors: Rose and Robin Horspool

With Robin and Rose you will explore this perfect example of city living as only the Italians have perfected. Lucca itself has many secrets to reveal, from its Roman walls wide enough to cycle on (not compulsory) and stroll on in the warmth of the evening (definitely compulsory), to tree topped towers, hidden palazzos with wonderful gardens, botanical gardens, a magnificent cathedral, a roman arena; with suggested visits to San Gimignano, nearby multi towered town, renaissance Villa Garzoni at Collidi with its early garden, now restored and explore little known areas of Pisa.

The highlight of the visit would be a chance to hear Tosca at Puccini’s summer villa at Torre de Lago nearby, Lucca being Puccini’s birthplace so early confirmation recommended to book the Opera on our last night.
  • More Details:
